Minimal project - rice paper (2019)

We surrounded by numerous materials in our life. The usual materials provide the infinite possibility of creation and we created artworks based on continuous study and experience toward art from past to present. In the past, I focused on beautiful and fancy stuff. However, nowadays, I’m more interested in routine, daily, and easy stuff. There is rice that pursues changes while it complies to certain role known as basic food and minimal taste within the minimal life. These minimized rice papers are consisting of our life. Unit rice itself shows various changes in forms at each stage during the course of creation, growth, division, and extinction. The course of change gives a comfortable mood about our predictable ‘life’ and familiar form itself of food which is a basic supply of life energy contain an element of thankful for god and parents. By analyzing rice paper’s form and shape through a basic element of the model, I can arrange shape traits of rice paper as line, space, and form. I used it as basic shape measure and instead of reproducing it as itself I expressed minimal image that can be considered from the subject.

We surrounded by numerous materials in our life. There is silk that pursues changes while it complies with a certain role known as fabric. This silk chiffon brooch contains numerous textures from the layered line and space. For me, it represents a maximal sense. Also, the layered chiffon itself shows various changes which are not fixed as well as mood. The various possibility in terms of movable gives not only numerous inspiration but also aesthetic about our unpredictable ‘life’. By analyzing silk chiffon’s form and shape through a basic element of the model, I can arrange the shape trait of chiffon as line, space, and form. I used it as a basic shape measure and instead of reproducing it as itself, I expressed a maximal image that can be considered from the subject.
